Shamir Ahmed grew up in Gopibagh, Old Dhaka. Since childhood, he used to organize various cultural programs including painting competitions, wall posters, and Shrawan Mela with his friends. In addition to painting, he became interested in stage design from his childhood due to his inclination to watch various domestic and foreign award programs. He is currently the owner of Studio Ash.
Backstage star
Studio Ash is one of the few institutions that are well known for stage decoration in Bangladesh. Shamir Ahmed grew up in the cultural atmosphere of Old Dhaka. He is the youngest of four sisters and two brothers. When his father died at the age of eight, his elder sister Afsar Jahan took over the family. Along with teaching, he raised his younger siblings by tutoring. He always encouraged them to be involved in cultural activities. With the encouragement of his elder sister Afsar Jahan and his younger sister Meherunnesa, Shamir got admitted to the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University in the 2002-03 session. Department—Drawing and Painting. He founded an organization called ISKA with his friends in the fine arts; which organizes various events including photo exhibitions, fashion shows.
At the beginning of his professional life, Shamir worked as a freelancer for a few days. In 2006, he started his career as an art director with film and advertising director Piplu R. Khan. At that time, he mainly designed sets for advertisements. However, the interest that he had in stage decoration for award ceremonies as a child had not disappeared. He started working as a stage decoration for various advertising agencies.
